Vince Staples Is No Prima Donna

Vince Staples is known to be one of the “ordinary, normal” guys in the hip hop industry, and simply doesn’t see the need to brag and flaunt what he we think is genius. He has a history of portraying gang life as it is, refusing to glamorize it as he doesn’t want the youth to follow in those dark footsteps.

Vince Staples has recently released the track-list and artwork to his upcoming EP titled “Prima Donna”. The artwork is Vince staring blank faced straight ahead with his head being the size of a balloon, referring to the meaning of a prima donna: someone who has an inflated view of his/her self.

The track list is as follows:

  1. War Ready
  2. Smile
  3. Loco (feat. Kilo Kush)
  4. Prima Donna (feat. A$AP Rocky)
  5. Pimp Hand
  6. Big Time

Reading the song titles gets me excited beyond belief. Vince has been featured on some of the sickest singles since his release of Summertime ‘06. Vince laid some bars on ‘All Nite’ produced by Clams Casino, known for his work with Lil B and creating a very unique sound.

‘Smoke & Retribution’ was a song on Flume’s most recent album, serving to establish Vince’s inkling to work with producers involved in the electric scene, and not restricting himself to the mainstream.

August 26th should be a new holiday. I myself will be taking a personal day to check out the EP and whatever else happens to drop that day.
